Datuk Fadilah Baharin


Combining more than three decades of experience in the civil service and approaching 18 years of involvement in standards and conformity assessment, has led Datuk Fadilah Baharin to push for quality through standardisation and accreditation activities as the national agenda for economic transformation. Her vast experience has led her to believe in proactive, pragmatic and productive measures towards efficient and effective implementation of various national programs and agenda. She is at the heart of the Department of Standards Malaysia branding “Creating a Quality Culture”.

As the current Director General of the national standards and accreditation body, Department of Standards Malaysia, Fadilah plays a critical role in positioning Malaysian capabilities and potential, through her strong advocacy for standards for local and global competitiveness. Most notable, she successfully developed the first halal standard, MS 1500 entitled “Halal Food – Production, Preparation, Handling And Storage – General Guidelines” that is currently being used everywhere in the world apart from Malaysia; as well as she played a vital role in establishing the ISO regional office in Singapore. Known to be a thorough professional, Fadilah promotes values of commitment, cohesiveness and credibility at her workplace, positively influencing good governance, economic performance, national development and above all, the people’s well-being.
